Built in 1896, the Dahl Chapel and Auditorium is Monmouth College's oldest academic building. It contains the Louise DuBois Kasch Performance Hall, rehearsal rooms, and dressing rooms. The performance hall features a vaulted ceiling, historic stained glass, large stage, a wrap-around balcony and seating for 600 guests. Its warm acoustic environment has been praised by visiting artists.
The Wells Theater is a $1.8 million state-of-the-art theater space, which opened in 1990. It features computerized lighting control, a counterweighted fly system, large scenic and costume studios, a design studio with a CAD system and plotter as well as several Mac computers, and computerized front-of-house operations.
Since 1981, Great Decisions has operated as a forum where the public and the academic community can meet in a congenial setting and talk about world affairs. All eight Great Decisions programs this spring semester are free and open to the public (from January 25-March 22). They are held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Moot Board Room in the Monmouth College Center for Science and Business.
Market Alley Wines has live music every Friday and Saturday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., as well as the occasional weekday. Their musicians play everything from blues and rock, to folk and bluegrass.
MAW is also proud to partner with talented area artists as a venue to display their awesome work. On Tuesdays, stop by to play board games or cards from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
The Buchanan Center for the Arts Gift Shop features items that have been handcrafted by local and area artists as well as fair trade items.
